REPLACEMENT OF ENTIRE ROOF JOB — 38 Comments

  1. Great video. I appreciate your work. Looking to get this done on my home. What would one charge for a job just like the one here? Up here in the Capital District of NY. Thanks again.

  2. these guys look like a very good crew. I've worked with some very fast hand nailers also, I like to stick to a gun though because although i'm not to concerned if my hands are rough, those hand nailers i've worked with had some really major ugly looking hands lol. Scar tissue all over their knuckles from holding the shingle on steeps. Anyways good on you guys.

  3. Curious: unless I'm mistaken, it looks like you used plywood instead of OSB; if so, why? Also, did you convert gable vents to a ridge vent or was the ridge vent already there?

  4. I see now problem with the way you work. hand nailing shingles takes a man but its also the best way. using guns you're liable to blow nails through shingles and then it'd be no good. nice work from Georgia.

  5. I personally like your work would of been better if you yourself would of been shown in the video so we knew that it was being done right not saying it wasn't but if the big boss is in the video working and showing how its done would of been better then just you talking that's at least what I think

  6. didn't see anything about one inch overhang on the sides three-quarter inch whatever how far do you let it overhang into the gutter how do you keep the shingles straight Dre's first maybe snap a chalk line for the first few courses then every 10 inches to just to make sure you stay straight. or to prevent from going crooked . you guys are pros but somebody else trying to do this at home how to start the shingles off with being a good tip to add in here

  7. Hey, I'm wondering. Do I need experience to join a roofers union? Can I just call these guys up and say hey I' looking for a steady job here but I have no past experience in this area.. So where do I start?
    Thanks

  8. Been roofing in California for 22 years and i've NEVER roofed a house like that!  Having said that, it was cool to see how others in the trade in other parts of the country do things. I can't say i will do steal any of your methods but you did a nice job!  Just curious about something   For almost 20 years here in Cali, we've been sheeting houses with OSB.   It's considerably cheaper than plywood and from my experience, just as good.  Are you not permitted where you live to use OSB or, is it just your preference not to ?  😉

  9. I really like how the video shows them taking off all the sheating opening up the attic insulation ,witrh a cigarette in his mouth . wow i have been roofing along time and my business insurance and osha would nail my ass to those rafters .
